For some time now, essences have emerged as an interesting addition to cosmetic routines. No, I am not talking about essential oils (although they are nice) – I am talking about essences, also known as primers or infusions.
An essence is a lightweight liquid that hydrates the skin. A very good essence is also loaded with active ingredients targeting specific skin concerns – brilliant ! It is used on clean skin after toner and before a serum. Why? Because the essence effectivelly pulls down the ingredients
of the serum more deeply into the skin. It’s an extra boost.
Featured left is Payot Roselift Lifting Infusion (available in shop) which has pro collagen peptide (patented) for redensifying and rose water extract (patented) with hydrating, softening properties. It protects skin from
the harmful effects of free radicals and helps
combat premature skin aging.
Considering essences are fairly fluid, a little goes a long way so there would be several months of use per bottle.
The blue bottle on the right is Payot Source Plumping Infusion, an absolute quench of hydration and softening for all skin types. Read more details about it here. As I always say, seek advice from your Beauty Therapist.
When to use essence? Daily
- Cleanse and tone
- Apply essence (infusion) to face and neck
- Apply serum and follow with treatment cream, eye cream and sunscreen as applicable
